Do you know everything about sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami and does nothing make you happier than experimenting with them? Then we are looking for you as Sous-Chef at restaurant The Livingroom of the Babylon Hotel The Hague!

What will you be doing?

From the kitchen you will prepare the dishes for restaurant The Livingroom, part of the Babylon Hotel in The Hague. You work closely with the Head Chef and replace him during his absence. Dishes only leave your kitchen when they look as good as they taste. Whether it's the first breakfast of the day or the last dessert late at night. Preparing lunches and dinners for groups who have booked a meeting package is a fun challenge! This can be for 12 people but also 130. As a Sous-Chef, it goes without saying that you are completely up to date with preparation techniques, food trends and ingredients. 

Moreover, you know exactly how to transfer this knowledge with enthusiasm to your team and the guests. In addition, you will train and supervise our apprentices and trainees. You see it as your mission to make processes, products and menus every day just a little bit better than the day before. You know exactly how to organize your workday so that you never run out of time and are not afraid of a creative menu brainstorm. This way you make your own workday and that of your colleagues different every day.

Who are we?

The Babylon Hotel Den Haag is an icon at The Hague Central Station since 1978 and is part of Eden Hotels. Centrally located, with a fantastic view and, of course, all the famous attractions within easy reach. The hotel has 143 rooms and several special meeting rooms. On the first floor of the hotel, you will find our bar and restaurant "The Livingroom", where we delight our guests.

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • You have at least a completed cooking education MBO - level 3
  • You are in possession of a required diploma (master chef diploma is a plus).
  • You are creative: you bring your own new ideas for our breakfast buffet and the new menus.
  • You have knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
  • You have knowledge of regulations on HACCP and are familiar with safety regulations.
  • You know how to motivate your team and take them along in your own enthusiasm
  • You are flexible with regards to working hours and tasks.
  • You have knowledge of products/ingredients, calculations and menu card.
  • You speak fluent Dutch and English. Do you also speak (some) French, German, or Spanish? Even better!
  • You live in the Den Haag region.
